…Hercules is not having a good day. If only his father, Zeus could see beyond his earthly shortcomings…

Not the most organised of super heroes and a bit of a disaster zone, our Hercules is a powerful force of nature.

He doesn’t know his own strength, but maybe that’s what makes him (half) human after all!

An uproarious adventure through Hercules’ loves and labours – monsters, magicians, music and mayhem – a carnival for all the family.

n.b. Our productions are simply staged and beautiful to look at, highly physical and suitable for all ages.
Even if your children are too young for Shakespeare, they’ll certainly love our hero Hercules…

There are 8 performances a week, including 2.00pm matinees on Thursdays and Saturdays, and a tea time special on a Sunday at 5.00pm.

The Road to Standon provides an opportunity for young and aspiring bands to stake a claim for a main stage spot at Standon Calling this summer. More than 100 bands from up and down the country have entered the competition, and Telford’s Warehouse now plays host to the North Wests regional heat…

The event (www.standon-calling.com) – now in its 10th year and held in the grounds of a 16th Century manor house, has become known as being streaks ahead of industry talent spotters ? having booked the likes of Florence and the Machine and Friendly Fires before they became household names ? and now offers the chance for new and unsigned acts to join the haunts of stars who launched their careers in the merry fields of Standon.

If you know the bands and their music, know the awesome nights Standon put on, follow the legend that is prefestival warm up or simply want to spend your evening listening to the sounds of next year then make sure you head down and see what’s on offer!

Join us for an evening of merriment, fun and laughter when the beautiful gardens of Grosvenor Park come alive with one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, Much Ado About Nothing.

Lovestruck Claudio and Hero are determined to marry despite the shenanigans going on around them.

Notwithstanding the shortest of engagements (one week!), there still seems to be plenty of opportunity for mischief making, not least trying to match-make our other heroes, Beatrice and Benedick.

And herein starts the merry war of the sexes…

Masquarade balls, plotters in disguise, jilted brides and mistaken intentions go to make up one of the Bard’s best loved and funniest plays, and the perfect end to a balmy summer’s eve.

Reckless Sleepers invite you to dinner, to sample the last meal requests of the famous and the not-so famous.

You’re asked to eat and drink while they speak, then eat the last words of the famous, the infamous, of criminals, victims, heroes, heroines and stars.

With real scenarios, invented scenarios, scenarios in the future, scenarios from the past, The Last Supper is part performance, part meal, made up of half-remembered words and the forgotten last requests of inmates on death row.

Each audience member is given a table number, their case number, their incident number.

Thirteen of these are last suppers.

The Class is a drama that follows the year in the life of a French schoolteacher working at a high-school in a tough neighbourhood of Paris.

Ethnicities, cultures and attitudes often clash in the classroom, and as amusing and inspiring as the teenage students can be, their difficult behaviour can still jeopardize any teacher’s enthusiasm for the low-paying job.

The Class is based on an autobiographical novel by Francois Begaudeau.

The Bicycle Thieves tells the story of Antonio (Lamberto Maggiorani), a poor man who is thrilled when he is at last offered a job: delivering and putting up movie posters on a bike.

On his first day at work, the bike is stolen and Antonio drops everything to go on a desperate odyssey through the streets of Rome with his little boy Bruno to get his bike back.

Chester Performs and Screen Deva have partnered with Performing Arts Network and Development Agency (PANDA) to deliver a free panel event, open to anyone working in the performing arts in the North West who is interested in getting involved with film.

Our panel of guest speakers will explain how you can use film to enhance your performing arts practice, promote yourself and give their expert advice on how to make the transition from stage to screen-based work.

This was in the 1970s: a combustible and sometimes cynical era in recent history when it was common to hear people talk about ‘The Gays’, and when equal-rights legislation was coming under attack.

A movie experience like no other…

The Paper Cinema is a performance, an illustrated song, a shadow show, a smoke, a mirror, a puppet show, a cinema show, side show, magic show, a show and tale, a show off. It exists in the meeting of live music and moving drawings.

What happens at the accidental meeting of inkblots, photocopies, cardboard, angle-poise lamps, the occasional table, video technology, a laptop and a banana box?

King Pest
An Edgar Allen Poe story commissioned by the BAC for The Masque of the Red Death, a tale about two sailors come ashore in 14th century london to go drinking and run out of money, and have to do a runner…….

Nightflyer
Is a tale of crossing the night, of stolen freedoms, dreams. Flights of lost birds the invisble serpent hovers near by caught in this mysterious train strange chess people try and stop our hero finding the lost flying girl.

L’auberge Espagnol (The Spanish Inn) is a riotous comedy hit about a bunch of students on the loose in Barcelona, learning lessons about life, love, and and finding a future.

Romain Duris is the young Parisian who embarks on a European exchange scheme in Spain’s most exuberant city – and has to take pot luck by sharing an apartment with a culturally diverse group of fellow students – including two Brits.

He says farewell to his family and girlfriend (Amélie’s Audrey Tautou) – and then the fun begins.

Directed by Cédric Klapisch, who made When the Cat’s Away and Un air de famille, the film also spawned a sequel: Russian Dolls / Les poupées russes.

Chester Film Society present a quiz across all genres, interspersed with some international short films.

About the Chester Film Society:

Chester Film Society is a member of the British Federation of Film Societies (BFFS), which has been representing the film society movement since 1925.

Chester Film Society offers the people of Chester and surrounding areas the chance to see some of the finer films of world cinema in a relaxing and appreciative atmosphere.

Their programme provides a selection of new releases and classics, with varying themes and genres, many of which have bypassed the North West of England, but always chosen to interest, intrigue and entertain.
