Every visited a pub and seen your favourite ale on tap, only to sit down to badly poured, poorly kept, inferior pint of beer? So disappointing!

Cask Marque has introduced a scheme to try and prevent this happening. Where you see the Cask Marque badge you can be sure that a suitably qualified assessor has visited this site and performed an audit to make sure that the conditions and practises are all in place that are needed to produce and keep a good pint of real ale.

On the initial visit assessors will check cellar hygiene, layout and temperature. Then they will move upstairs to the bar to check quality and cleanliness of the bar itself, the glassware being used to serve the beer and then they move onto the beer itself. Real ales on display will be checked for clarity, temperature, aroma, appearance and, of course, taste!

The Cask Marque assessor discusses real ale care in great depth, with the person responsible for looking after it, to ensure that what has been seen is in fact what is happening on a regular basis. Should you be lucky enough to be awarded the accredited Cask Marque you will then be treated to two surprise visits per year to make sure you are maintaining your standards.

Members of the Cask Marque scheme are avidly encouraged to comment on your beer through their websites.

Capitalising on the ‘eat-at-home’ market, Pizza Express have extended their range to the supermarket freezers sections.

There is a definite emphasis on Pizza Express’ desire to capture the luxury end of the pizza restaurant market.

Take-away Pizza Brands 

There are huge numbers of take-away pizza shops all over the UK. Do you visit just any pizza takeaway for your pizza, or do you prefer to order from a name you recognise?
